France keeps ban on GM maize despite EU court opinion

The French government has maintained the ban on genetically modified (GM) maize and is refusing to lift its ban even though the European Union court of justice say the ban is out of line on procedural grounds. The French minister for the environment Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet maintains "that now more than ever MON810 should be kept out of French fields". MON810 is manufactured by Monsanto, the European Commission is considering changing the current system. Read more ...
