18/07/2014: Grain receiving, cleaning and conditioning distance course offering

The IGP Institute provides professional, convenient online courses through distance education for individuals interested in expanding their knowledge of the industry.

The Grain Receiving, Cleaning and Conditioning distance education course will be offered on September 8 - October 10, 2014. The Grain Elevator and Processing Society offers a wide variety of programs and services to its members and the industry.

“The GEAPS/K-State Distance Education Program is the leading source of education for grain industry employees globally,” says Doug Forst, chairman of GEAPS’ Distance Education Oversight Committee.
The Grain Receiving, Cleaning and Conditioning course will include a review of the equipment and testing practices, binning and storage along with inventory tracking and blending practices. The course is designed to give participants a deeper understanding of the impact on flour extraction and quality as a result of grain receiving, cleaning and conditioning practices.

“We are continuing to support the ever growing GEAPS/K-State distance education and credentialing program,” says Brandi Miller, IGP Institute assistant director and associate director for GEAPS/K-State distance education program.

“Distance education offerings are a way to reach professionals that may not have the opportunity to travel to on-site training.”

The course is specifically designed for flour mill operatives, millers and laboratory staff, mill HR staff and managers, grain and ingredient procurement managers, among others. This five-week professional development non-credit course grants one continuing education unit upon completion and is a required course for the completion of the KSU Milling Credential program.

Full payment for this course is due on registration. Full refund is available up to one week prior to the start of the course. This is one example of distance offerings presented by the IGP Institute. In addition, the IGP Institute provides trainings in the areas of feed manufacturing and grain management, flour milling and grain processing, and grain marketing and risk management.
