Roger Gilbert will be speaking at the Global Milling Conference MEA 2016 in Abu Dhabi.
Mr Gilbert is a long-standing agricultural journalist and today is the publisher of Milling and Grain magazine, International Aquafeed magazine and the International Milling and Grain Directory.
A New Zealander, he specialised in agricultural journalism soon after graduating from Orange Coast College in California, USA, in 1974, where he obtained a Diploma in Journalism.
Mr Gilbert has worked as a journalist with the New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and for that country’s dairy magazine, The NZ Dairy Exporter. After moving to the UK in 1983, he joined Watt Publishing as its European Editor for Feed International and Pet Food Industry magazines. He rose to become editor of Feed International.
For 22 years, until October 2010, he was the Secretary General of the International Feed Industry Federation. In that time he saw the Federation rise from humble beginnings to represent more than 85 percent of all compound feeds produced globally. He initiated the industry's representation with Codex Alimentarius and the United Nation's Food and Agricultural Organisation.
He has organised many seminars, meetings and congresses – including symposia for feed industry representatives in Mexico, Russia, Poland, England, Belgium, China, Thailand and South Africa. He has been instrumental in the production of the industry’s first global Feed Manual which focuses on food safety issues related to feed production.
Mr Gilbert will be speaking on ‘A Robust Compound Feed Industry – Opportunities for the Middle East & Africa’.
