Experienced International Sales and Business Development Manager, Elizabeth Manning, has joined the UK arm of R-Biopharm Rhône, the manufacturer and exporter of diagnostic test kits.
She will have responsibility for global sales of R-Biopharm Rhone's recently-launched ImmunoPrep online cartridges.
The reusable immunoaffinity cartridges consisting of an antibody coupled to a hydrophilic pressure resistant polymer allows automated analysis of mycotoxins online with HPLC or LC-MS/MS.
"This new online technology is something of a game-changer in mycotoxin analysis, mainly because it incorporates "walk away" technology which saves time, consumables and, critically, minimises costs", she said.
Mrs. Manning, who graduated in BioChemistry at Liverpool University, worked at Manchester Medical School then in various senior roles including at Haemonetics where she was a Senior Sales Director.
Her new role involves lots of global travel, meeting both agents and end-users in the food and feed laboratories sector, seeking out mycotoxins and removing them.
"Mycotoxins, produced by fungi growing in food, can have a devastating impact on the human body and are a world-wide problem, especially in warmer regions where conditions are right for the organisms to grow. We will be partnering with customers to introduce our online approach globally", she said.
R-Biopharm Rhône, which supplies the agri-food industry and sells to major multinational businesses in the food industry, is based in the West of Scotland Science Park in Glasgow. It founded 25 years ago to make mycotoxin kits, which test for poisons created by moulds.
