02/04/2015: Mathews Company saves farmers money on grain dryers

Mathews Company(M-C), a global manufacturer of grain dryers, is going the extra mile to help farmers save dollars on purchasing a grain dryer. M-C has several ways to show farmers how much money they can save by investing in a grain dryer now, despite low grain prices.

“Holding onto cash, in this case, may cost farmers in the long run,” says Joseph Shulfer, Company President.

“Just as we know to invest in the stock market when the market is low, we hope to prove to farmers that now is the time to invest in new technologies that will save them money in the long run,” says Mr Shulfer.

Older, less efficient heat and cool dryers can cost a farmer, while newer technologies offer higher efficiencies that result in greater fuel savings, contends Mr Shulfer.

M-C’s highly successful line of vacuum-cooled tower dryers is the most energy efficient grain dryer Mathews sells. One of the ways farmers can see potential savings is by visiting M-C’s Vacuum-Cool Savings Calculator, located on the Modular Tower page of M-C’s website.

Key information is entered, such as desired amount of moisture removal, how many acres are harvested, anticipated yield, and local propane or natural fuel cost, for example. Automated calculated results reveals savings over non-vacuumed cooled dryers. In many cases, farmers have realized more than 30 percent savings over traditional dryers, according to M-C’s research.

M-C is also helping farmers save money by extending its deepest winter discounts. M-C’s ‘Early Order’ Grain Dryer Discount Program typically offers the deepest discounts from November to January with percentage discounts that decline monthly until April 20th. To help farmers who may be hesitating this year due to low corn prices, M-C is extending the deepest discounts through April 30, 2015.

In addition, M-C Dealers are directing potential buyers to available grant and incentive programs that can give buyers additional ways to save money on their purchase, according to Jeremy Kemp, Sales & Marketing Manager.

For example, Mr Kemp says that Mathews Company’s relationship with the Propane Education Research Council (PERC) offers farmers a US$5000 incentive for recording and reporting fuel usage to PERC for the first year dryer usage. The incentive is paid directly to the farmer in two parts with a portion paid upfront and the balance upon PERC’s receipt of the fuel usage data.

M-C’s new Modular Tower Series dryers (10’ & 12’ diameter towers) qualify, in addition to its vacuum-cooled Trilogy Series Dryer.

“Because of our development relationship with PERC, they are generous to include our dryers in their incentive program,” says Mr Kemp, whose team of regional sales managers are working with dealers daily to keep them abreast of available money.

“Dealers have even helped to find grant writers to help farmers obtain the USDA’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant, which can cover up to 20 percent of the cost. Some local gas companies have programs in place as well,” summarizes Mr Kemp.

“As the industry’s leading grain drying specialists, we have years of proven performance, quality that stands the test of time, factory-trained dealers, and the incentives in place to help a farmer make a sound decision for selecting the best product for their farming operation.”

Mr Kemp encourages those considering a grain dryer purchase not to hesitate in order to take advantage of the extended winter discounts.

Headquartered in Crystal Lake, Illinois (USA), Mathews Company has been a leading global manufacturer of high quality innovative agriculture equipment, since 1954, specializing in grain drying.

M-C is committed to ‘Building for the Future,’ striving to provide superior products and unmatched service through innovation, expertise and quality. M-C dryers are available through authorized dealers worldwide.
