A strategic partnership to promote the growth and internationalisation of Italy’s leading processing and packaging exhibition
The world of packaging has changed dramatically with the creation of Ipack-Ima Srl, the new company set up jointly by Ucima (Italian packaging machinery manufacturers’ association) with its Food Pack division and Fiera Milano with its Ipack-Ima business unit. This marks the start of a new and exciting chapter in the history of Italy’s leading processing and packaging exhibition and one of the largest such events in the world, acquired last June by Fiera Milano.
“Our association’s involvement in the ownership and management of Ipack-Ima Srl will help put Italy firmly back in the centre of the international trade fair scene and will finally offer companies in our sector an Italian exhibition platform that does justice to their international leadership position,” said Ucima’s chairman Giuseppe Lesce.
“IPACK-IMA will benefit from the network of international relationships that our association has built up in recent years and from the design and operational support provided by member companies in creating a show that meets their commercial needs and the demands of their international clientele,” continued the Chairman of the new company and Vice Chairman of Ucima, Riccardo Cavanna.
“After years of absence I’m sure that the big Italian companies in the sector will also return to IPACK-IMA as exhibitors,” added Andrea Malagoli, Chief Executive Officer of IMA Spa.
“In particular they will have the opportunity to showcase their latest technological innovations and welcome their most important international customers in Milan.”
“From 2018 onwards we will not just be guests at exhibitions abroad but will be able to proudly showcase our Italian technologies on home soil and play host to our international competitors,” concluded Giuseppe Lesce.
Along with the support of industry entrepreneurs, IPACK-IMA will also benefit from the experience and expertise of Fiera Milano, which sees the show as one of the key events for consolidating its leadership position in the food and food tech sectors.
“Fiera Milano is currently third in the European rankings of major B2B food sector exhibitions,” said CEO Corrado Peraboni.
“In the interest of our companies, we aim to climb even higher in the rankings and are confident we will be able to do so given Italy’s excellent products and its outstanding food processing companies and process and packaging technologies. The partnership with Ucima will play a key role in achieving this goal as food tech is a major area of operation for the new company Ipack-Ima srl. We have a strong belief in the exhibition business development model pursued jointly with Ucima. To combat the fierce global competition, especially from Germany, we must develop our own large and appealing international events in sectors such as food where Italy is second to none. But to achieve this goal we must work in close cooperation with the industrial associations.”
To further promote the partnership between the food sector exhibitions organised by Fiera Milano, the new company Ipack-Ima Srl will be led by Domenico Lunghi, Food and Food Tech Exhibition Manager at Fiera Milano. IPACK IMA has already begun national and international promotion of the next edition of the show which will be held in May 2018.
