16/01/2015: China's big role in the processing and packaging business

IPACK-IMA is widely renowned as one of the most attractive global exhibitions for suppliers of technology and materials for processing and packaging, as it is capable of giving room, voice and momentum to all industry players by providing new ideas, initiatives and anticipations at each edition. In order to illustrate to the Chinese public the exhibition’s main aspects and features, a press conference was held today at the Embassy of Italy in Beijing which saw the participation of the Italian Ambassador, Alberto Bradanini as well as of the most relevant associations and operators representing this business sector in China.

During the press conference, the role that China is nowadays playing in the processing and packaging business at the global level has been duly emphasized: in fact, China is today the third importer overall of machines and equipment (5.7 percent of total world technology imports) after the US and Germany; it is also the third supplier to the Italian market, after Germany and France.

This performance has been confirmed by a strong increase in the registration of Chinese companies at IPACK-IMA 2015: +71 percent compared to the 2012 edition.

“We are very happy with this amazing result, which confirms that the technological level achieved by China can now compete with the world’s major players like Italy, Germany and the USA” stated Guido Corbella, IPACK-IMA’s CEO.

From 2009 to the present, IPACK-IMA has undertaken an important path towards food safety and sustainability in its broader meaning: economic, cultural, social sustainability as well as the study of production processes for the development of technologies capable of improving the quality of life.

The attractive display of products and services, combined with the extensive network of major global institutions and associations developed by IPACK-IMA, should ensure a large influx of buyers from outside of Italy: 60 percent from Europe and 40 percent from 120 other Countries, with a constantly growing international participation rate.

The 2015 edition of IPACK-IMA, which is scheduled from 19 to 23 May and is expected to bring over 2,500 exhibitors and more than 100,000 visitors, will take place concomitantly with some other specific exhibitions such as Meat-Tech, DairyTech, Fruit Innovation, Converflex and Intralogistica Italia. It stands out as a unique, not-to-be -missed initiative for visitors from all over the world, providing an integrated and highly articulated complex of events related to the same supply chain that has no precedents worldwide.

Moreover, these events will occur during Expo Milan 2015 and will thus attract more visitors because of  the close connection between the technologies on display and the Expo’s main theme (“Feeding the planet. Energy for life”). According to the Organizers’ forecasts, out of the 20 million expected visitors to Expo Milan during the six months of its duration, over one million will be Chinese.
