19/05/2015: Thailand welcomes delegates to seventh Rice Convention

The 'Thailand Rice Convention 2015' got underway this evening with a Welcome Reception for this year's 400-plus delegates, which was hosted by the Ministry of Commerce at the Centara Grand Plaza Ladprao Hotel in downtown Bangkok.

Welcoming visitors from many parts of the world to the three-day event, Adul Chotinisakorn, Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Trade (DFT), under the Ministry of Commerce, said this was the seventh time the convention had been hosted not only to promote the fact that Thailand produces the best quality rice for the world, but that Thailand had to assist in building future co-operation that would secure food for a growing world population.

He said this year's convention would reconfirm the determination of his country to enhance the quality of rice and to retain its place as the producer of the finest rice in the world in the eyes of its customers.

'Think rice - think Thailand' is the catch-phrase of the convention.
