Updated Canadian Grain Commission services, service standards and fees take effect

Changes to the Canadian Grain Commission's services, service standards and fees have begun. These changes are as the result of changes to the Canada Grain Act and the Canada Grain Regulations and a review of the fees charged for services and licences.

"On behalf of my colleagues at the Canadian Grain Commission, I would like to thank grain producers, licensed companies and others in Canada's grain industry who worked with us to put operational changes in place. A lot of hard work happened behind the scenes to ensure a smooth transition. What a great example of how everyone in Canada's grain industry works as a team to reach a common goal," said Elwin Hermanson, chief commissioner.

Changes to the Canada Grain Act were part of the Jobs and Growth Act, 2012 and were aimed at streamlining the Canadian Grain Commission's operations. These changes also necessitated related amendments to the Canada Grain Regulations.
